Logo Feedback Please!

I'd appreciate some feedback on these logo designs for the 'Back to Basics' project. The intention of the website is to create a fresh and simplistic approach to accessing the information. The name derives from the phrase 'Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezey' (I'm aware the spelling is slightly altered). Equally the logo's are intended to be viewed on a yellow or green background, possibly with a gradient fade.

I personally think that number three mixed with the lemon shapes of number six would look the best, with the addition of the text being ‘beefed up’ a bit to improve their presence.

With number 3 being square it should be easy to place. Logo design will appear later in the year, and there are a surprising amount of rules and guidelines for them. Put simply, it needs to be square or rectangular, and be very bold with its use of strong shapes and thick fonts.

I also quite like number one, but I think the text should fill the right side of the lemon shape more. Seven, two and five have too many fine features to be strong enough on screen, while the yellow on 4 makes ‘Squezy’ too hard to read. Just my two pennies though.

Thanks Julian I really appreciate any feedback from you. The detail and thought you convey is always very valuable.

Cheers!

I prefer number 1 out of the lot of them purely because it's very simplistic and recognisable. The only thing putting me off with it is the slight angle to it that makes it look awkward. I love the colour scheme though.

Have you thought about trying some purely typographical logos? How about some saying Lemon Squezy with the text actually being squeezed? Or in the shape of a lemon?

I'd avoid the gradients as I think it makes a logo lose it's boldness. Especially number 1, which doesn't need anything adding to it.

When I'm doing logos I always try and boil the idea or whatever it is I'm trying to convey down to the smallest thing that will convey the idea, and then work back up if I've gone too far. That's probably why logo 1 appeals to me.

Thanks Craig, I prefer number one too. The text squeezing is done to a lesser degree in idea one but I agree that here's a lot more scope to play with.

Equally a purely typographic solution appeals to me too. Just depends how much time I get to play in Illustrator and how quickly I pick things up.

Any tips for manipulating text?

Like Craig I prefer option 1. It reminds me of the limewire logo.

All the elements of option 1 are fine, however could be improved if they are positioned differently. The text makes the design complicated. Another alternative could be alter the text to white and position within the bottom of the circle, reduce the yellow segments and position them to fit in the top right of the circle.

I also prefer logo one. (LW("looks like limwire")) But also its more eyecatching that the rest. Maybe its just becasue it looks like the LW logo. But its bright and stands out so thats the main reason i like it.

In what way do you want to manipulate the text Michelle?
